The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

So, this is new. The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask. Is that the longest name for a mask ever? Perhaps… Anyhoo this is a new mask from The Body Shop which promises to deliver bouncier (?), smoother, refreshed, recharged and renewed skin. Hmm, I’m guessing by bouncy they may mean plumped. I’ve never really referred to my skin as bouncy. My hair, yes, oh Lord give me ALL the bounce in my hair.

Here it is. The packaging is just lovely. I wasn’t expecting a glass jar, so that was a nice surprise. The jar is quite weighty and I have almost dropped it once with greasy fingers, so beware! Also, you get 90ml which I think is pretty sizeable for a mask/moisturiser. I say slash moisturiser as the instructions direct you to apply every night which kind of defeats the purpose of calling the product a mask. Why not just say night cream?

The Bouncy Sleeping Mask is a very unusual texture. Kind of like a half melted marshmallow. Its very strange to prod it in the jar and see it “bounce” back. But then it is also quite fluid as if I tip the jar sideways it all seems to want to slide out. Once in your hands and massaged into the face it sinks in quite quickly, leaving your skin feeling nicely refreshed. The mask has a cooling sensation which is nice after a hot Australian day. I would think that a day after a little too much sun it would be a nice night time treat.

Heres a few details from the packaging.

I have applied this mask twice now (not on consecutive nights) and its nice. I don’t have a better word for it. It smells really fresh, not at all overpowering. I just don’t feel it is an essential for me. Actually to be honest, the second time I applied it, which was early evening, I added a second application and a little facial oil before bedtime as my skin felt a little dry. I didn’t wake up to any dramatic differences. I will certainly continue using it and tweaking the application, but for me, I like something a bit more hydrating.

This mask is not widely available in Australia just yet, I had to order from a Body Shop consultant as the actual stores are not stocking it at present. It retails here for $44.95AUD.
