May 2015 Favourites

May 2015 Favourites

We have a little bit of a mixed bag this month, some makeup, hair, skin & accessories. Where shall we start? Ahhh, how about skin?

A little while back I picked up a trial size (30gr) tube of the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF30 Facial Sunscreen. Now I know what the fuss is all about. Granted, there are facial sunscreens out there with a  higher SPF (really like the Alpha H 50+) but as its winter time here, SPF 30 is good enough for me as I am basically inside 90% of the day. This sunscreen is amazing under foundation, rubs in beautifully, no white cast and smells great to boot. Big tick!

I persisted so long with my (rip off) Tangle Teezer until I had just had enough. It was rough on my scalp and took just as much effort as any regular brush to get through my knots. I was quite sceptical about purchasing The Wet Brush but when I was making an online order to Cult Beauty I came across this and it was in animal print. ANIMAL PRINT. Must have. This brush is like a dream. No matter how knotty my hair becomes this just goes through like butter. Well not quite, but its a huge improvement on any other brush I’ve ever used.

Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face, The Wet Brush, Rouge Bunny Rouge Diaphanous Finishing Powder & RBG Compact Mirror

A little double next the Rouge Bunny Rouge Diaphanous Setting Powder and the cutest little compact mirror. After seeing Karima of Shameless Fripperies wax lyrical about this powder for ever I had to try it for myself. OMG. Since getting this, I don’t think I’ve used another powder. Nope. Not a one. It’s a translucent formula and is weightless on the skin. It controls oil, but doesn’t dull the glow of your foundation. You can’t (that I know of anyway) buy RBG in Australia but shipping direct from their website was like lightning. I also picked up the cutest little compact mirror complete with butterflies…Aww. So pretty.

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo 6

Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo 6

Its taken me a good while to get into the “nude” lip thing. I like colour on the lips. Nude seems to make me look a little dead. But not so with the Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo in #6. I did go for a deeper nude shade (the deepest? not sure) and its perfect. Its no lighter than my natural lips, but it just takes the pink out to create that nuder look. Super creamy and easy to apply its a winner in my books. A handbag staple this month.

Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner

Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner

Talking of handbag staples, this one has a permanent spot. I think I actually let out a little squeal when I saw that Aerin had launched in Australia. I have loved the Gardenia Rattan fragrance for ages but had never been able to buy here. I was actually getting a little worried as my bottle was getting low. But walking through Myer’s one day what did I see perched up on the Estee Lauder (Aerin is Estee Lauders granddaughter) counter? Aerin!! So far Australia has only received the fragrances, body & hand creams & this beautiful Aerin Rose Lip Conditioner, but fingers crossed one day soon the entire range will get here. This lip balm is hydrating and smells like roses. Need I say any more?

Chanel Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder & Wayne Goss Holiday Brush

Chanel Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder & Wayne Goss Holiday Brush

The combo of the Wayne Goss Holiday Brush & the Chanel Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder is just a match made in heaven. I have adored the Holiday Brush since I got it last year, it’s perfect for setting powder, bronzer, blush, highlight… I use it mainly for bronzer but its a great brush for travelling as you can pretty much use for everything (‘cept eyes obviously). So this brush, coupled with the Lumière d’Été Illuminating Powder creates just the perfect subtle bronzed glow for daytime. The powder is not quite matte, not at all shimmery,  not too dark or light, neither too warm nor too cool. It just gives the skin a gorgeous healthy glow, and I literally cannot get enough. The stunning Chanel signature camellia blossom just makes this bronzer all the more swoon-worthy. I’ve never bought a Chanel bronzer before, but if this is what its all about then I’m sold!

So that’s it. Thanks for reading guys and let me know in the comments what your May beauty favourites are. I’d love to know!
