Skyn Iceland – Pure Cloud Cleanser & Pure Cloud Cream

Have you ever wondered what the clouds felt like? When I was a kid, I’d imagine that they were like softer, less bouncy versions of trampolines. I was also convinced that the Care Bears lived up there in Care-A-Lot and I always wished I go and visit. I was a little obsessed with them and loved the thought of a cloud kingdom in the sky. But until recently I had not really thought about the adult equivalent of what a cloud might feel like (yeah, yeah, yeah…. I understand the scientific side of things…but lets just use our imaginations for a minute now shall we?) If I close my eyes and imagine touching a cloud, the first three words that come to me are soft, bouncy and soothing. And this is exactly the same feelings I get when using the Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser and Pure Cloud Cream.

I got both of these back in August, I purchased the Pure Cloud Cream from Mecca and received the Pure Cloud Cleanser in the Caroline Hirons Cult Beauty Box. From first use, I knew both products were winners.

Starting with the cleanser, it comes packaged in a 150ml white plastic squeezy tube which is lightweight and perfect for travelling (if that matters to you). The cream cleanser is neither too thick or runny and is the perfect consistency to massage easily into the face without either dragging it or having it run down your arms. The scent of the cream is fresh and faint and I believe it is free from added fragrance. Once suitably massaged around the face I add a little water to my fingertips, emulsify and then remove with a warm wet washcloth. My skin is left perfectly cleaned but not stripped at all and actually always feels quite hydrated after using this cleanser and not tight like I need to apply a serum or moisturiser asap after removing. The Pure Cloud Cleanser is aimed at people with dry and/or sensitive skin but my combo/sensitive loves it and I’ve had nothing but a positive experience with this cleanser. This cleanser will remove makeup (eye makeup included, but I always prefer a separate eye makeup remover) but I have found that I use and like this cleanser the most as a morning cleanse.

The Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cream comes housed in a 50g glass jar which is not-so travel friendly, nor is it great for those who may be a little clumsy. You don’t want this one to slip through your hands onto the bathroom tiles. Also, a jar design is not my preferred way of encapsulating any kind of cosmetic as it is a little unhygienic. I try my best to keep the germs out by always using a clean spatula with jars of any kind. But the jar design is literally my only bug bear with this moisturiser. A little of this cream scooped out goes a long way and once you start to massage into the skin the thicker texture cream spreads easily and instantly melts into your face. Again, the smell is soft, faint and fresh. Once massaged and left to sink in for moment or two this cream leaves no sticky or greasy residue at all. I can imagine that for those with dry skin this would be the perfect base under makeup as your skin would be well hydrated but no greasy film. As mentioned above, my skin is more on the combo side (although prone to some dryness especially in the winter) so my preference for using this cream is in the evening. I wake the next morning with plump, hydrated, but not oily skin.

Skyn Iceland products seem to be aimed at people with dry and stressed skin but like I have mentioned my combo/sensitive skin loves the two products I have tried so far. Skyn Iceland is available direct from their website (check if they ship direct to your country) here, in Australia at Mecca and also via Cult Beauty.

If you’ve ever wondered what a cloud might feel like, I believe Skyn Iceland has come pretty close bottling it.
