Review – Hylamide Low-Molecular HA

I can’t imagine that anyone enjoys the feeling of dry/dehydrated skin. Especially on the face. Itching, flaky and skin just generally devoid of moisture make me first of all look quite red & irritated and secondly no matter what type of foundation, primer or highlight I use it never quite has the same effect as well hydrated and plump skin. So when I had the opportunity to give the Hylamide Low-Molecular HA* a trial I jumped at the chance to see if it could help restore some balance and juiciness back into my skin.

From Hylamide themselves- ‘Hyper-strength rehydration serum with 5 forms of hyaluronic compounds with varying molecular weights to target visible skin rehydration at multiple levels.’

As part of the Hylamide Booster Series this serum is essentially just for hydration. But I guess in turn well hydrated skin is most certainly beneficial in the long run in terms of anti-aging and general skin health. I like to think of it as an accompaniment to my regular skincare routine and basically insert it as an extra step between acid/toner and serum. Sometimes during the day I use it as my sole serum before applying moisturiser.

The serum is ultra lightweight and almost feels (and looks) like water but just a little thicker. I love the dropper style delivery system of serums such as these as it make them so much easier to distribute the exact amount you want. Upon application to the face it spreads evenly and easily and absorbs rapidly leaving no residue.

I have now been using this booster since December and whilst I don’t use it every single day I do use multiple times each week and I can see both immediate and mid-term effects from applying the Hylamide Low-Molecular HA.

I have noticed that when I apply this serum in the morning my makeup is not only going to last a little longer, but it’s also going to look fresher longer and not sink into my pores/skin as my face is not trying the suck in any moisture it can get. Longer term I have definitely noticed an improvement of overall moisture levels in my skin and just general plumpness and I would say the majority of the time in the past month or so I would classify my skin as more ‘normal’ rather than ‘dry/dehydrated’ so that can only be classified as a good thing!

I have been asked questions on my Instagram if the Hylamide Low-Molecular HA is comparable to Hydraluron and in my opinion it is superior. I have tried Hydraluron in the past and I was never a fan of the thicker gel consistency and I recall my skin used to be left feeling sticky which wasn’t a feeling I was fond of. As it was quite a long while ago I used Hydraluron I can’t remember exactly how my skin reacted but I do recall I was never blown away by it, hence why I never even finished the tube. The two are quite similar in price however and do claim benefits of along the same lines, so I guess if you are looking for a hydrating product it would really just come down to personal preference and my preference by far is the Hylamide Low-Molecular HA both for the results and the texture of the serum on the skin.

Hylamide Low-Molecular HA is available for shipping internationally direct from the Deciem website or alternatively if you are in Australia you can buy either instore or online at Priceline.
