Review | Bravura Azulene Cleansing Milk

Full disclaimer – I own way too many cleansers. Like ridiculous amounts. I have them in my bathroom cabinet, drawer, shower and I still have some unopened ‘backups’ of most loved cleansers as well as some to try. So when I start using a new cleanser and literally can’t stop using it, I know I’m onto a good thing.

Oh, and side note, Instagram will bleed your purse dry if you let it. I’ve discovered so many amazing brands and products by just following others and noting what they are using and loving. I have been noticing the Bravura brand tagged in multitudes of accounts and most notably on hiddenharmonyworld (she also has an awesome blog – here and has a couple posts on Bravura) so over the Easter weekend the Bravura site was offering a discount so I decided to pick me up some products and give them a whirl and see what all the fuss was about.

The Bravura Azulene Cleansing Milk is not one of the products I see floating around Instagram feeds as much as their ‘known for’ products – the peels, but seeing the gorgeous blue colour of the bottle and lacking a lot of choice in the ‘milk cleanser’ dept (WTF? Not really, but hey) I decided at the last minute to add the cleanser to my cart along with the peels (which I haven’t had the chance to try out yet, I’ll report back) and a toner.

Wise choice, as this has become my go-to cleanser of choice in the morning ever since receiving. I’ve used it in the evening, but morning is where I like it best. I like a milk or cream cleanser in the morning. They are quick and easily removed when you need to be in and out of the bathroom in a hurry. First thing I noticed when I pumped it out, is that it’s blue! And a pretty shade of blue too. This amuses me greatly obviously….small things right? The scent is fresh, powdery and soapy (it is soap free however) very light and pretty. One pump is all it takes and the blue dissipates quickly when massaged into dry skin for a minute or so. Removal is swift with a wet face cloth and my skin is left feeling fresh and softened. I’m not a fan of anything that leaves that tight dry feeling so this is perfect for me.

The cleanser inherits its blue colouring from the extract Azulene which comes from Chamomile flowers and has antibacterial qualities which aid in helping inflammation and allergies so it is perfect for sensitive skin or just skin in general that requires a gentle and soothing cleanse. Other notable ingredients include Camellia, Avocado and Wheat Germ oils to help with the removal of impurities and Marshmallow extract (! OMG doesn’t this just sound divine!) which apparently is emollient and soothing to the face.

Marketed to be used as both a makeup remover as well as a skin cleanser but the instructions note that it should not be used around the eyes, something I had missed until just now, as I was going to say that it is a little stingy when it gets in your eye. Hmm, noted. But as I do prefer to use this of a morning, I’m not really all that worried about its eye makeup removing skills or lack of.

Bravura London seems to ship to many international destinations and I received my order shipped to Australia reasonably quickly and well packaged. Their products are quite sensibly priced and seem to be getting good reviews. I’ll be doing another post once I’ve had the time to play with the peels.

Does Instagram leave your purse a little lighter? Honestly, there are so many products on my wish list that it is bordering on insane and flicking through all the feeds just seems to inflate it daily. Oh, and shameless plug – if you’re not following me on Instagram just click here and follow 😉
