Changing Seasons, Changing Wardrobes

The Northern and Southern hemispheres may be complete opposites at the peak of Summer/Winter, but for a month or two while us down south transition from a hot sticky Summer to a milder Autumn our Northerner friends are saying goodbye Winter, hello Spring! And quite honestly, is there are better time for dressing? I don’t think so. The milder temperatures are the pinnacle of comfortable and stylish dressing. Well, in my opinion anyway. Also – Sales! Cant forget those. The end of a season always puts me in a mood to go shopping and a discount or two is always welcome.

So come shop with me, but be warned – I am a style basic bitch. I like black, white, grey, denim and every now and then a splash of khaki or blue and spot of animal print. I mean, I say basic, but I’d like to think also – classic. I have pieces in my wardrobe older than my first born. He’s 10. I don’t subscribe to a ‘capsule’ wardrobe theory – I am far from a minimalist – but the thought train of a colour palette for my wardrobe is very much in swing.

Let’s not forget comfort – it doesn’t have to be sloppy or mumsy – how about effortless? I don’t have a fancy enough lifestyle to be dressed to impress daily but I do want to look put together when I am out in public you know?!

So I’ve rounded up what I’ve been checking out – if a sales code applies I will add it above!

H & M – How adorable are those jumpsuits? And that olive green dress is the perfect transitional piece.

Macy’s – Those black (faux) diamond hoops are calling my name. I love a hoop earring. If you haven’t noticed on Instagram, hair clips seem to be the next big thing… what do you think? These ones are cute, not over the top and inexpensive enough to try the trend! *20% off entire purchase with code SPRING

Country Road – CR is pretty much my most shopped at shop here in Australia. It’s quality, while not cheap it’s not crazy and the styles and cuts are always perfectly me. *Take a further 40% sale items

Anthropologie – Okay, all those cozy knits and the adorable pink suede loafers need to be mine. *Take another 25% off sale items – discount reflected in cart

Farfetch – Getting up there price wise, but sales are a great time to invest if you have had your eye on a particular piece for while. If you are going to invest in a shoe then a boot is a great choice! Taken care of, boots will last multiple seasons especially is you don’t pick anything that’s going to date – but also, not too boring hey?! These star studded black boots are classic in shape but a little pop of something unexpected. Who doesn’t want a baby blue cross-body top handled bag? I know I do! *Take 20% off sale and full-price AW18 items with code X20FAR.

Net-A-Porter – Alright, we are at the top of food chain now, but getting a discount will help soften any blow – My best advice if you are looking to splurge – research! Don’t buy on a whim – or if you do, make sure you are choosing classic shades/shapes/styles rather than something that will look so last season before this seasons over. Case in point – Leopard print kitten heels – is animal print ever out? Embellished camisoles – layered under a jacket or worn on its own – never out of style. *Take 15% off site wide with code NEWSEASONREFRESH.
