As a bit of a skincare lover, I’m always on the lookout for the next best thing. You know, that product that’s going to take your complexion from drab to fab instantaneously. Well it doesn’t exist. Not that I’ve discovered anyway. In the search for the holy grail I seem to accumulate a fair few products that get shoved to side to make room for the next best thing and I can never seem to actually finish them up.
So I thought I would challenge myself to pick a few that have been lurking in my bathroom for a little too long and need to be used up ASAP!
Number one on my list of “use it, then lose it” is the Clarins Gentle Eye Makeup Remover. Not the best eye makeup remover in the world truth be told. Bioderma does a better job of removing mascara. Smells pretty, that’s about all its got going for it. Hit me with some recommendations if you know of a great one! Also from Clarins is the Multi Active Day Cream. Now this one has been hanging around a long while- when trying to find a link, it seems it’s not even for sale anymore. Oops, maybe it’s past its prime, but it’s an airtight pump and still smells fine. It only has SPF15 so I wouldn’t rely on this for a day in the sun, but it’s good enough for days when hanging at home.
Two cleansers I need to finish are Sunday Riley Charisma Creme (nearly there!!) and Ren’s Rosa Centerfolia Cleansing Balm. I really like the SR, I’ve talked about it previously here and will likely buy again at some point but it’s a big no for the Ren Balm. I love the smell and it melts makeup off beautifully but damn does it sting your eyes. The instructions actually say not to use on eyes, but really, what’s the point of a cleansing balm that you can’t use around your eyes??? Another Ren product that’s a bit of a miss for me is the Flash 1 Minute Facial. I will make an effort to finish this up, but it’s a bit of a gimmick product in my mind.
La Roche-Posay Redermic Eye Cream is not a bad eye cream at all, I picked this up at Priceline during one of their big sales last year. Now that we are coming into winter here in Australia I feel like I need something with more hydration, but I’ll continue to use this until it’s finished.
Finally I have two deluxe sized samples of Tata Harpers Rejuvenating Serum and Repairative Moisturiser. I’m unsure why this moisturiser is labelled for dry or mature skin as this makes my skin feel tight and not at all hydrated. These two were nice to get to try but you won’t catch me purchasing full sizes of these. But hey, that’s what sample sizes are all about!
