So, I attempted to write a ‘Top Five’ lipstick post. Sadly, I could only narrow it down to 8. But I then realised I had only just paid homage to the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick so that brought the total to 7. I could work with 7, there’s 7 days a week so how about a little hybrid of a lipstick a day featuring the lipsticks that bring me the most joy right now!

A lipstick for every day of the week
Monday – AKA the crappest day of the week. You wake tired, cranky and after hitting the snooze button one too many times you find you have 0.5 seconds to get out the door. What do you throw in your purse to apply whilst journeying to work? Why, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Deauville that’s what. It’s sheer, shiny, hydrating and you don’t even need a mirror to apply. Winning. Well, as much as you can be winning at 8.30am on a Monday.
Tuesday – A slightly better day cause you know, you’re one day closer to Saturday (woop). Today, it’s a little square golden bullet that make you smile. Another sheerer one, as Tuesday, much like Monday, does not see you jumping out of bed ready to take on the world before the sun rises. Aerin’s Rose Balm Lipstick in Pretty sees you sporting a pinky peach pout and is another easy to apply wherever you may be shade. I really have zero time to faff around on a working morning with liner and lip brushes and I’m willing to sacrifice long wear when it comes lipsticks. I will quite happily re-apply as necessary.
Wednesday – Ah HUMP DAY! You know you’re half way there now, so now’s the time to bust out something with a bit more oomph. Enter Delilah Colour Intense in Honesty. I am all about that mauve right now and this one is a creamy satin that leaves your lips still feeling comfortable but we are definitely onto a longer wear formula now.
Thursday – You’re almost there. With the week almost over it seems auto pilot seems to have taken control. It’s technically a different lipstick but with an all too familiar feel. Nars Audacious Lipstick in Anna (see, I told you – all about that mauve) is pretty similar in shade to the Delilah but feels more creamy and has a more slip to it. I’m pulling at strings here, they are pretty close. You don’t need both. But they both are beautiful and well, I love them both anyway.
Friday – You made it! Just get through the day and you’re done. So why not bold it up a bit? Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Velvet Underground is the perfect Fri-Yay colour. Every glance in a mirror or shopfront (you know you do it) you’ll feel happy. It’s bright but not too bright for the workplace and will be perfect for those Friday afternoon drinks or dinner. Not that I do those things anymore. Having a 6 year old in a bar is frowned upon these days.
Saturday – If you find yourself out on the town on Saturday night wouldn’t you like to take Tom with you? Tom Ford that is, in the shade Incorrigible. I’d love to leave you a link for this one, but it was a limited edition. I had to include it though as it’s one of my very favourite ‘night’ colours. Its got a little bit of sparkle going on, so for me, its not a daytime shade. I always feel just that little bit extra special when I have this on my lips.
Sunday – The last day of the weekend brings about equal parts joy & sadness. You’ve had a sleep in but then feel you’ve wasted the morning, so throw on a pretty outfit and the Chantecaille Lip Chic in Rose Delice and get out in the sunshine. Rose Delice feels like a balm, it’s emollient and shiny with a decent whack of pigment to keep you looking polished while you are enjoying those last precious few hours before the weekend comes to close.
