About 6 months ago while browsing the Cult Beauty website I came across a mask that had some great reviews and whilst I’d not heard of the brand Ilcsi, I was curious enough to give it a try!
The Sour Cherry & Blackthorn Gel Mask is said to restore hydration and calm irritated skin and is aimed at those among us with dull and dehydrated complexions. With fruit enzymes working to gently slough off those dead skin cells and antioxidants and bioflavonoids to restore the skins glow as well as Blackthorn to improve microcirculation and cell renewal this mask is an all natural and organic feast for the skin. But there’s no beating around the bush on this point though, once applied you will look like a leper due to the jam like look and consistency of this mask. It also smells strongly of cherry. It’s like smearing black forest cake filling all over your face and that’s ok by me as black forest is one of my favourite types of cake!
I like to apply this mask with a flat paddle brush as I find that it is easier to get a good even application. The first thing you will notice is the instant cooling effect on the skin, even more so if you keep it in fridge for a post summers day pick me up (which is recommended). I then go and hide in a room so as not to scare the crap out of anyone wandering around the house and relax for 15 mins before using a face cloth to remove all the little bits of cherry stuck to my face. Afterwards, my skin feels silky soft and hydrated and as someone who’s face tends to go temporarily pink & red after masks I find my skin is calmed and balanced not irritated in the slightest. You truly are left with glowing calmed down skin.
If you are someone with a reasonably sensitive complexion or are just looking for an organic natural alternative to an exfoliating mask, I highly recommend taking a look into the Sour Cherry & Blackthorn Gel Mask. I am so happy I decided to take a chance on this one. It’s my go-to when my skin is having a sensitive moment and I need some calming action!
