This post is not about wearing Chanel on a Friday night. I mean, I would wear Chanel on a Friday night and any other night of the week, who wouldn’t? But no, this post comes about as a result of a Friday night at home cuddled up on the lounge at midnight with an iPad and some cash burning a hole in my PayPal account. Innocently browsing the David Jones site when my fingers clicked over to Chanel and I discovered that Chanels latest collection had arrived on Australian shores (yay!) so I set about narrowing down what I had to have. And this is the story of how the Chanel Stylo Fresh Effect Eyeshadow in Laurier Rose, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour Powder in Marinière and Chanel CC Cream came to live happily ever after with me.
You want to know what really sold me though? David Jones deliver on a Saturday. Yep, you heard right. If you happen to live in Sydney, you can get same day (before a set time) or Saturday delivery. Hell yeah I’m excited about that. I ordered these sometime after midnight and got them delivered, to my door, in less than 14 hours. On.A.Saturday. Can I get a fist pump emoticon?
So onto the goodies. High up on my list of bases to try has been the Chanel CC Cream. I picked this up in 20 Beige which is a great match for me. Being a CC, sheerer type coverage there’s not quite as many shades to pick from but after using Chanel bases for forever I can safely say 9 times out of 10 I’m a 20. Having worn it a few times now, I’m impressed by the coverage. Look, it’s still what I would call sheer, but not pointlessly so. It evens out the complexion nicely and with a couple of swipes of a concealer in key areas (around nose, blemishes) you have a lovely lightweight base. Just a heads up to the oiler skin ladies (and gents) it’s quite hydrating so you may need a good powder and probably a touch up after a few hours.
Onto the Chanel Stylo Fresh Effect Eyeshadow in Laurier Rose. Now you just may be my favourite. I can’t say that I’m usually into pinky tones on my eyes, but something about this shade just works. It’s not too pink, it’s quite a peachy pink with a golden sheen and I’m in love. But whoa, does it set fast. Don’t try and swipe both eyes at the same time, you need to blend this out at lightning pace. Now if only I could master an awesome black liquid liner flick because I think it would look perfect with this shadow.
Lastly we have Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Colour Powder in Marinière 01. I went with the 01 rather than the 02 which seemed like it would register as a bronzer for my skin and I already have a Chanel bronzer which you can read about here. I’ve always loved Chanels Les Beiges powders and this is no exception. It’s pale enough to apply lightly all over to impart a subtle glow or I can build it up on my cheeks for an uber subtle flush. The shimmer you see in the pan doesn’t translate as a glitter bomb on your face, just a healthy glow, which is what the Les Beiges collections are all about, so mission accomplished there.
