Luminous skin. Yes, this is pretty much at the crux of what I think most of us want. Yes, no wrinkles would be nice, as would the knowledge of never another pimple rearing it’s ugly head be lovely too, but in essence, luminosity is where it’s at. It’s that bloody amazing feeling when someone notices and exclaims how lovely your skin looks today. That’s luminosity. We can try and fake it with illuminating primers and light-reflecting powders, but doesn’t it just feel wonderful when you have little or no makeup on and you still feel (and see) that radiant luminosity coming through? Well, Tatcha seem to bottled some kind of sorcery in their latest two releases – the Tatcha Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate* and Tatcha Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum* because I am feeling pretty luminous of late.
A while back Tatcha got in touch with me (yes, I may have squealed like a little girl for a moment….or three) and asked if I’d like to try two of their brand new products releases. Ahh, lemme just think about that for a moment. YES. Of course I would! Already a big fan of their One Step Camellia Cleasing Oil, Silken Pore Pefecting Sunscreen (reviewed here) as well as a whole host of their travel sized products (post here) I was super excited to get try out the Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate and Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum.
The Tatcha Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate is a nightly serum applied after cleansing/toning and before moisturiser (although I have noticed some people find the serum hydrating enough on it own). I have been using it nightly for the past three weeks or so and I’ve been really happy with the results that I’ve had. Firstly let’s talk texture. Because this is one of the strangest serum textures I have ever encountered. It lies somewhere between Jelly/Jell-o and Crème Brûlée or maybe even a Pannacotta (yeah I like food). It literally wobbles in the jar. You get this fancy little gold spoon to scoop the gel-like serum out (you don’t need much, a little less than a pea-size) and when applied it just disolves into the skin in an instant. When I apply I take the serum all over the face as well as under and around the eye area. The next time you open the jar, the serum will have re-formed and you will never see where you’ve scooped. Tatcha claim that the serum is hydrating and will visibly replenish and diminish the look of fine lines and reveal a youthful glow even after just one use. I agree completely with their claims. They’re not claiming to reverse the aging process. I respond well to these kind of claims. I definitely notice that my skin feels and looks plumper and more hydrated when using this serum both at the time of application and also in the morning. I haven’t as yet, but I could see myself using this serum daytime also. It gives good glow and well, why not?
From Tatcha- “This ultra-concentrated formula of hydrating Okinawa Red Algae and 7 other rich botanical extracts including ginseng, squalane, wild thyme, and sweet marjoram visibly improves skin clarity, texture, and tone for overall renewed radiance overnight. Formulated with Tatcha’s proprietary, anti-aging HADASEI-3™ Complex”
The Tatcha Luminous Overnight Memory Serum is formulated for all skin types, non-comedogenic, non-irritating, non-sensitzing and is Dermatologist tested.
Would I recommend/repurchase? Yes on both counts. I will be continuing to use this unique serum and will definitely consider a repurchase when the time comes. The jar contains 50ml of serum which is quite a bit larger than the standard 30ml you usually get with a serum, so I can see this lasting me a good while yet though.
When I first recieved the Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum I was using both morning and night, but not long after I figured that I prefer to apply this eye serum of a morning. The ceramic tip applicator is insanely cooling and when the serum is applied and worked around the eye contour it really helps with de-puffing those tired morning eyes as well as brightening the under eye area.
Tatcha says – “This weightless serum of Okinawa Red Algae, Honeysuckle Leaf and Caffeine offers instantly-visible firming, reduced puffiness, and plumping hydration to diminish fine lines. A cooling ceramic applicator and fine dust of 23-karat gold brighten and diminish shadows under the eyes without adding shimmer”
Even though classified as a serum, I find this to be perfectly hydrating enough for me to use throughout the day without the need to add an eye cream over top. And that’s saying something, as I generally have quite dry under eyes and need extra hydration there to stop the area from looking dehydrated. It works beautifully under foundation/concealer and I have found that whether I am wearing makeup or not the area under my eyes is firmed, plump and supple. More so than what I was expecting from this weightless eye serum.
Again the Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum is formulated for all skin types and is non-comedogenic, non-irritating, non-sensitzing and is Dermatologist as well as Ophthalmologist tested.
Would I recommend or repurchase? Definitely. Tatcha is fast becoming one of the most effective yet gentle skincare lines I have tried. All the products I have tried from them (whether PR or bought with my own dollars) have been exceptional and I’d really like to try even more from the brand
The Tatcha Luminous Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate* and Tatcha Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum* were very generously sent to me via Tatcha PR as samples for consideration. All my opinions are my own and I do not accept products for review that I would not be willing to spend my own money on trying.
